Bill Skaer is a Founding member of CEDIA, the leading global authority in the $19 billion home technology industry in the US. CEDIA is the brand of custom-installed home lifestyle experiences with education, tools, relationships, and support necessary to provide clients with best-in-life experiences at home.
Bill received CEDIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 for helping to create the custom home electronics industry as we know it today.He is in good company with other recipients of the award like Joe Spira, the founder of Lutron and the lighting dimmer. Albert Langella, the inventor of Multi-room/Multi-zone Audio system, Theo Kalomirakis the father of Home Theater, Scott Struthers one of the early inventors of in-wall speakers and Tom Holman the inventor of THX Audio, are other recipients of CEDIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 2015 he became a CEDIA Fellow. He served on the CEDIA Board of Directors for 6 terms helping to guide the direction of the industry. He served as the CEDIA Ethics Committee for nearly 2 decades. During that time, he helped shape and uphold, the ethical standards of a global industry. He has received dozens of awards throughout the past 30 years.
He has taught the industries advanced boot camp, training the next generation of Home Technology Professionals. Bill has been a speaker for groups such as IDEC (Interior Design Educators Council), IPRO (Independent Professional Representatives Organization) and taught countless architects, builders and interior designers about the custom integration industry.
